Disappearing Inventory

barcode printerI guess it is a sign of the times and the recession, but things are disappearing from my store. I own a small retail store that sells Mexican imports ranging from furniture to small trinkets. It is not so much things like furniture, decorations, or any of the big stuff that has been walking out. It is really just the smaller items for the most part. However, there have been a few larger items that really leave me scratching my head. How did they make off with that great big sombrero?

I have thought about getting some kind of retail point of sale software on many occasions. The down side I was seeing though was that I would lose a certain element of the atmosphere I was trying to create. The ambience I am shooting for is that of a true Mexican curios (that’s what they call this kind of shop down there). And really, barcode printers and barcode scanners do not really fit in with that whole feel.

But necessity requires that I jump through those hoops. In fact I’m going to take it even one step further and add magnetic strips and sensors at the exit. I just need to do something to keep my inventory from walking off.

Motorist Protection for a Major Road Construction Project

crowd control barriersWhen Nena Nelson needed to find a way for the DOT to pay for equipment for several state road construction projects, her research first kicked off online. Working for the Department of Transportation had its benefits, but if she couldn’t find a reasonable way for the organization to pay for the thousands of jersey barrier, then her job would be on the line. In addition to that, knowing that all the traffic safety equipment had done its job following the projects, when there were no reports of serious accidents, would bring job satisfaction

In the scope of her job, Nena had access to all the statistics about hazardous drivers and the ways that they could injure themselves on the road. It would take all sorts of crowd control barriers, including plastic jersey barriers, tensbarrier, traffic barricades, and traffic cones to make these series of projects safe enough to implement. Finding the right place to acquire these necessities was half the battle. Now, it was up to the ingenuity of the construction workers to carry out the reconstruction plan that was scheduled to last nearly 10 years across almost a thousand miles of road.
